Children are growing up in an era where many of them are using digital devices to learn, to be entertained and to create. Every day, children seamlessly navigate between the real and the digital world.

However, over the years, the focus has been on classroom teaching of children about skills they need to get through in the physical world. Among others, they are taught how to add prices of items on their shopping list, how to read road signs so that they can find their way to their destinations etc.

However, in the digital world the possibilities are endless and parents/educators are aware that the digital world is not a completely perfect place for them.  It is, therefore, imperative to teach children the skills they need to succeed in today’s environment including how to thrive in today’s digital age because according to the 2018 Digital Intelligence (DQ) Impact Report;“56% of 8-12-year olds across 29 countries are involved in at least one of these major cyber-risks: cyberbullying, video game addiction, offline meetings, and online sexual behaviours.”

Children are at the crucial stage when they start to figure out their sense of what is right and wrong, taking their first steps on a lifelong journey to build their sense of identity and discernment.

Therefore ADL will:

Objectives

-Build capacity of children to interact with technology responsibly.

-Build young people’s skills to be able to maximize risks and maximize opportunities there may be online.

- Support young cohorts of the programme to choose their career paths or receive guidance to that effect.

- Those interested in the second stage of digital citizenship (coding) to also have some experience in their chosen fields to augment the existing numbers.

Objectives

Children at this age are also vulnerable as this is the age at which they begin to seek social inclusion. They are at the crucial stage when they start to figure out their sense of what is right and wrong, taking their first steps on a lifelong journey to build their sense of identity and discernment. Therefore ADL will :

Support young cohorts of the programme to choose their career paths or receive guidance to that effect.

Those interested in the second stage of digital citizenship (coding) to also have some experience in their chosen fields to augment the existing numbers.

Our Approach

ADL Programme is using Digital Intelligence EveryChild (DQEveryChild) as a prerequisite for enrolment onto the programme. After completion of the eight missions and assessment on DQ, poorly placed Leaders will be assisted with tutorials to increase their scores with support of high performers on the programme. After which they will all be taken through various thematic curriculum by highly professional industry leaders, educationists, IT Experts, Cybersecurity Experts, Development practitioners, Programmers among others.
